Grey hair: choosing length and finish that let texture speak
Grey hair can create more contrast beside darker hair and reflect light differently. This can make texture, partings and product finish more noticeable. It is not a separate category requiring one haircut; start with how your hair behaves now and what you enjoy.
Assess the shape in ordinary light
Do not look only under strong salon lighting. Light can make grey and darker sections appear differently. A haircut you like should also suit how you see it outdoors, at work and at home.
Explain whether you mainly want a calm, even form or visible texture. The cut shape and finish determine that together.
Choose product by effect, not colour
Matte, natural and glossy products create different surfaces. Ask for a demonstration in your own hair and choose what suits the shape and feel. More or less shine is not a fixed rule for grey hair.
Always start with a small amount of product. This lets you see how your own texture responds without a heavy layer sticking it all together.
Discuss length and contrast separately
