Wavy hair: choosing length that works with natural movement
Wavy hair can fall differently in different areas and gain or lose movement as it dries. A wish for “tidier” or “shorter” works better when you look together at the dry form, the length the wave needs and your normal routine.
Show the dry fall
Do not arrive only with wet or tightly combed-back hair if you normally wear visible waves. Show how it falls on a regular day so length and volume are judged on the shape you will actually see.
A straight-hair reference does not automatically predict how your ends or fringe will fall. Find an image with similar movement or point out only the silhouette you like.
Choose where the wave gets space
Waves can add width at the sides or lift at the front. Explain whether you want to preserve, reduce or guide that movement backwards. That is more specific than asking for “less volume”.
When unsure, avoid taking away all the length immediately. Some sections need length to make the curve you want; shorter hair can move in an unexpected direction.
Match product to your routine
Explain whether you want to leave waves loose, define them more or keep them calm. Product can support the finish, but should suit how often you want to wash and restyle.
Test the form with your own hands and in the direction you use at home. This shows whether the result works outside the chair without extensive styling.
